Ecology
Each of the custodians of La Fructuosa has been aware of the importance of reducing the environmental impact of a hotel and restaurant.
Over the years, numerous improvements have been made, both to the building itself and to its day-to-day operation. These include a new, more efficient heating system, new windows, improved insulation, and solar panels for the production of electricity and hot water. We have also introduced reusable containers to replace the plastic water bottles and single-use toiletries commonly found in hotels.
Gaucín is located approximately 600 metres above sea level and enjoys an almost constant breeze from the Atlantic. Thanks to the thick, old walls of La Fructuosa and our beautiful wooden ceiling fans, the hotel remains pleasantly cool even during the hottest days of summer.
In the south-facing rooms, we have installed state-of-the-art air-conditioning systems powered by our new photovoltaic panels. This allows our guests to enjoy cool, comfortable nights during the summer without unnecessarily increasing our hotel's carbon footprint.
